Gwen Symons Memorial Scholarship

 ​Created in 1985 to assist girls in their final years of secondary school. This scholarship was named after one of our charter members, Gwen Symons. The scholarship recognises a year 10 student who is succeeding academically given her circumstances. The scholarship is to support her to continue her education in Year 11 & 12, and we therefore give her the opportunity to undertake senior schooling and tertiary studies.

Selection
The Zonta Club nominates an evaluation panel to assess the applications and shortlist applicants for an interview from which the panel will select one winner.

Award & Scholarship Money
The recipient of the Gwen Symons Memorial Scholarship will be notified ahead of our International Women's Day Dinner, held annually on the first Tuesday of March. ​
Cost of attending the dinner, for the recipient, is covered by the club, guests are welcome to attend at the ticketed price.

The Gwen Symons Memorial Scholarship is valued at $1,000pa. It will be awarded upon evidence that the recipient is succeeding academically given her circumstances. The winner may receive scholarship support for a second year of her education upon evidence of satisfactory progress in the first year of the scholarship.
